Immediate Opening: Elementary Guidance Counselor

Bricolage seeks an elementary school guidance counselor for the 2024-2025 school year. This position will support the mental, social and behavioral health of elementary school students and report to our Director of Student Support.

DUTIES

Specifically, the School Counselor will be responsible for:

  • Providing consultation and training for teachers, staff, and parents regarding various aspects of mental health, child welfare, and social/emotional learning

  • Participating in the RTI, SAT, evaluations and IEP team processes to determine student needs/progress and develop appropriate goals and interventions related to academic achievement, behavior, and social/emotional skills and provide consultation/support for completing Functional Behavior Analysis and Behavior Improvement Plans.

  • Providing direct counseling interventions (Tier III interventions) to students based on social/emotional support referrals and related counseling services to students with IEPs

  • Administer and analyze a universal screener for Social and Emotional Development and use data to develop social/emotional interventions and monitor student progress

  • Providing crisis intervention support and risk assessment as needed

  • Building partnerships with outside providers to enhance the social/emotional well-being of our students, and providing referrals to connect families to pertinent social service and mental/behavioral health resources as needed

  • Managing attendance documentation, monitoring, interventions, and truancy referrals

  • Training staff on mandatory child abuse and neglect reporting, suicide prevention and sexual health

  • Serving as the homeless student liaison and coordinating resource requests as needed

  • Recruiting and managing counseling/social work interns who help to support students’ social/emotional growth

  • Evaluating the school social work/counseling program and pursuing continuous professional growth

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional Counselor in the State of Louisiana, with one or more of the following designations:
    • Hold current Louisiana licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Hold a current Louisiana licensure as a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT)
    • Hold a current Louisiana licensure as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)
  • At least 2 years of counseling experience in a school setting with students aged 4 - 12
  • Ability to work with diverse teams in support of students.
  • Demonstrated success providing counseling and mental health services to students with a diverse range of presenting issues

Preferred

  • Fluent in Spanish
