Bricolage Academy is a mission-driven, community-focused public charter school serving students from Pre-K through 8th grade. We are committed to equity and innovation in education and are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to provide school-based OT services that help students develop the skills they need to thrive in their educational environment.
The Occupational Therapist will support students across Pre-K to 8th grade with developmental, sensory, and motor challenges that impact their school participation. Working as part of our student support services team, the OT will conduct evaluations, provide direct and consultative services, and collaborate closely with teachers and families to ensure students are equipped for success in the classroom and beyond.
Conduct screeners and evaluations of students referred for OT services using appropriate tools for early childhood through middle school.
Develop individualized occupational therapy goals and service plans as part of the IEP process.
Provide direct, group, and consultative therapy services to students in Pre-K through 8th grade, as appropriate.
Address fine motor, sensory integration, visual-motor, and self-regulation challenges that affect classroom performance.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, paraprofessionals, and other staff to implement strategies within the general education setting.
Educate and support families in understanding OT goals and providing carryover strategies at home.
Document progress, maintain therapy logs, and contribute to compliance and reporting requirements.
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility reviews, and other multidisciplinary team meetings.
Contribute to schoolwide initiatives that promote inclusive practices and universal design for learning.
Be eligible for Medicaid billing.
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Louisiana.
NBCOT certification.
Experience working with children from ages 3 to 14 in school or pediatric settings.
Deep understanding of child development, sensory processing, and school-based OT practices.
Familiarity with IDEA, IEP development, and related documentation.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Experience supporting both early childhood (Pre-K/K) and middle-grade students.
Bilingual (especially Spanish/English) is a strong plus.
Prior experience in urban or charter school environments.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and inclusive education practices.
